Order with style: This is how you organize your spices cleverly and beautifully
Lisa from meinfeenstaub.com and I each came up with a craft idea for the first month of the new year on the theme of “Simply Organize” and when I heard that theme I immediately thought of my parents’ spice chaos. Because until recently there was anything but order there. For anyone who still has a few question marks and is thinking “What kind of challenge?” – no problem. This year I have once again summarized the most important points of the challenge for you.
#DIYYearChallenge 2025
Lisa and I are taking on a creative challenge once a month for a year – the #DIYYEARChallenge. We independently implement a DIY based on a given topic and with the support of a sponsor. We get creative with the sponsor’s materials and publish our results on our blogs and social media channels. Monthly theme for January: Finally order
We are particularly pleased that our partner Brother is once again at our side for our challenge. Because with the many different options that the P-touch Aura labeling device offers, it fits perfectly with the challenge and our monthly theme. I also finally got my parents’ kitchen in order, because I often had to laboriously search for the right spice in the spice cabinet. Sometimes I couldn’t find it, even though there was still plenty of it. We simply no longer had an overview of the spices. I found the spice jars at IKEA. They are also a little IKEA hack that you can quickly implement with the P-touch Aura and design completely individually and according to your taste. Before you find out more about the labeling device, I’ll show you the simple instructions! Let’s go:
Instructions
Start by going through your spice collection. Discard expired or rarely used spices. This way you free up space and only keep the spices you really need.
Wash the new glasses thoroughly and allow them to dry completely. Then pour your spices into the jars. Tip: Use a small funnel to avoid spilling anything.
Use the Brother P-Touch Aura to create consistent labels for your spices. Enter the name of the spice and choose a clear font that is easy to read. Experiment with design elements like frames or symbols for a personal touch. You can also adjust the font, font size or, for example, write the font in bold or italics.
I printed out the names twice. I stuck the labels on the lid with white writing tape and a transparent background. On the side I labeled the glasses with white writing and a black background.
Select font and color, print out labels for the spice jars and lids.
Place the labeled jars in a basket, drawer or spice rack.
Keep your collection clean by regularly refilling empty jars and cleaning up spills. Add new spices directly with a suitable label.
With these steps you will not only create order, but also stylish and functional spice storage that is a highlight in every kitchen!
Get creative with Brother
The P-touch Aura from Brother is perfect for organizing your home – whether it’s a study, kitchen or the children’s school supplies. The labeling device is a light and mobile compact device with an integrated QWERTZ keyboard, which can be used to create the desired labels directly.
