Advertising, unsolicited Design an IKEA MOPPE mini chest of drawers: Today I’ll show you a super nice DIY that’s easy to implement and perfect for copying. This time it’s another IKEA hack where I transformed the MOPPE mini chest of drawers into a stylish and unique piece of furniture.
MOPPE, the little Mini dresser!
You can never have enough storage space: When we moved a few years ago, we took almost no furniture with us and had to buy a lot of new things. A few IKEA hacks have already been created – for example with the MALM chest of drawers, the GODMORGON washbasin or the HEMNES shoe cabinet. Today I have another practical and simple storage solution for you: the MOPPE mini chest of drawers. It can be ideally placed on a table or cupboard and is perfect for neatly storing small items that are otherwise lying around everywhere. I gave it a stylish upgrade and created a new IKEA hack for you!
Instructions
Removes all drawers from the MOPPE mini chest of drawers.
Glue the three small drawers together into one large one and repeat the process with the two medium-sized drawers. Use assembly glue or wood glue for this.
Fix the drawers with clamps until the glue is completely dry.
Paint the outside of the dresser with white colored paint. Let the paint dry thoroughly.
Cut notches on the connecting sides of the drawers that are glued together so that the furniture handles can be inserted later.
Measure the wall strips on the drawer fronts and cut them accordingly.
Paint the strips with the colored varnish so that they match the color of the chest of drawers. Also let the strips dry thoroughly.
Cut the Viennese braid to fit the drawer fronts.
If the braid is wavy, place it in lukewarm water for 15 minutes so that it stretches and becomes more supple. Then dry it off.
Glue the mesh to the edges of the drawer fronts with assembly glue. Only apply the glue to areas that will later be covered by the strips to avoid visible glue residue.
While the braid is drying, weigh it down with a few books to keep it taut.
Glue the dried strips to the edges of the drawer fronts with assembly adhesive.
If there are small gaps between the strips, fill them with glue and wipe off any excess before it dries.
Insert the furniture handles into the previously cut notches.
Screw the handle of each drawer tight using the screws provided.
Put the finished drawers back into the MOPPE mini chest of drawers. Your IKEA hack is ready!
