Tips – DIY creative action on the children’s birthday – so everyone has fun
The age of the children, the group size and space and of course budget are important for a handicraft campaign on the children’s birthday. I always pay attention to the following points:
Work possible in parallel – tinker together
Just a hot glue gun and you need it for every second step? Then you’d better choose another idea. Long waiting times quickly lead to frustration. Depending on the size of the group, I also find it nice when the children can tinker together. Also note how much space you need to tinker. The bracelets from the list work in the smallest space, for the jerseys you need more space. Large growth tapes are super practical*. So you can quickly turn the cake table a craft station.
It doesn’t take too long – pay attention to the age of the children
Even if some children love to sit on a Diamond Painting for hours – most of them don’t have so much patience yet and cannot concentrate for so long. Therefore, I always look for ideas that can be implemented quickly, but if there is enough motivation and fun of the matter, you can also be made longer.
The age of the children is also crucial here. If only one parent looks after all handicrafts, you should definitely choose a craft idea that works without much help.
Feasible for everyone – nice result guaranteed
Especially when painting, the skills of children in primary school age are often at very different levels. So that in the end everyone takes a nice result home, you can choose ideas that you can also work with templates (e.g. simply coloring on the shrink film). Or choose ideas that will definitely be beautiful (stencils + spray paint).
Manageable costs – handicrafts on the children’s birthday party
Set a budget beforehand and see if the craft idea is feasible in this context. In many cases, however, a self -made souvenir is better than the 100th plastic gadgets in a fittings.
To prepare well
Many ideas have to be prepared so that you can get rid of it on the birthday. In any case, choose an idea that fits well into everyday life and incorporates this time.
Keep an eye on the brooding factor
And finally: If you implement ideas with textile color and the like, make sure that you have enough malcases for everyone or let the other parents know that old clothes should be worn.
Gladly pinned a picture to find the list of ideas for a children’s birthday creative action again and again!

So far, shrink film has been the absolute hit on every children’s birthday when I used it! All you need is a shrink foil set*. Cups marbled have offered Maike and I offered several times in workshops with children and young people and it was always great. For this you need marble paint* and vessels with water – but also a little more space. The simpler variant is painting cups with porcelain pins* or porcelain color*. Tip for children who do not like to paint: glue letter stickers onto the cups, then scribble them colorful and solve the stickers again!
You can also buy cups for this as a cup set*. You should only put it in the dishwasher only 2.3 times, then the color is much better adhered to!

Cuddly toy from children’s drawing
You also need little material for homemade cuddly pillows: white cotton fabric, textile pencils (black* and colorful*), filling cotton and sewing machine. Depending on the age of the children, you can draw motifs or let them paint them.
Tip: Just let the children paint on the birthday and take over the painting, stuff and fix later. If you have an auxiliary person there, sewing on the sewing machine is done in a few minutes per cuddly pillow!

And finally an idea for older children with a lot of preparation time: Photo transfer is one of my absolute favorite creative techniques and the results are always very well received. The children should be a bit older (it works well from 10 years) and you need the desired photos as a laser print! Then you can transfer them to a desired material with a photo Potch* (wood or mini canvases). On large screens* you can have the children around the photos painted.
