Color bridal shoes yourself – yes or no?
Should I dare or not? The question of whether I color my bridal shoes myself was busy for a few months before I dared. It was immediately clear that I didn’t just wanted to leave her in my closet. They were Perfectly insulated and super comfortable. However, they were less suitable for weddings of friends in cream white and with many spots.
There are many different providers for a bridal shoe dye service online, but The costs of course speak clearly for the DIY variant. Since I already had a lot of experience with textile colors, I divided the color and just dared!
Which bridal shoes can you just color yourself?
The “classic” bridal shoes made of silk or satin are suitable for coloring. Leather shoes can also be colored theoretically – but not according to this guide. Also with synthetic or other upper materials, you prefer to inform you again specifically!

Color bridal shoes – how long does the result last? My experience report
And before I share the instructions and tips, I would also like to tell you how satisfied I was with my self -colored bridal shoes. Because if you have been lit for a long time, you may know that my wedding was a few years ago. I colored the shoes a little more than 10 years ago. Since it was not planned as a blog project, there are only a few photos and no photo afterwards.
Overall I have the shoes worn after coloring for about 4 years. The fact that I finally had to sort them out has nothing to do with coloring. A wedding with many gravel paths has completely rubbed off the fabric on the paragraphs. The silk color has kept perfect over the years – Even with light rain and Co.! I would therefore color my shoes myself at any time.

Dye bridal shoes even with silk paint – the best tips – it’s that easy
For coloring you actually only need a silk color as desired and a soft brush. Then it can start. On These tips & tricks I would pay attention to the result:
- If your shoes have a few spots, it is best to choose one Dark, opaque color. Light ancient pink can no longer cover strong stains and if you initially let your shoes clean your shoes professionally, the coloring service is almost worthwhile.
- Of course you should definitely Clean yourself before coloring. But make sure that the shoes afterwards completely dry. A damp basic material absorbs the color very differently (you may know from the watercolor painting) and edges could arise.
- Choose a time window in which you work continuously Can and then paint the whole shoe wet in wet. So you don’t see any drying edges later.
- If the color has dried, you should definitely Fix and impregnate. Silk paint can actually be fixed in the oven, but I would do without it with shoes so that glued parts do not detach. I used an impregnation spray.
- For the colored shoes, the same care instructions apply, which also apply to satin shoes in general: make sure that you do not sink into the ground (gravel and gravel!) And and and Avoid puddles and mud!

Crowd: 1 Pair
Material
- Bridal shoes
- Silk paint Affiliatelink
- Paint brush Possibly a very fine brush for straps and Co.
- Missing them
- Base
- Impregnation spray
Instructions
-
First clean the bridal shoes thoroughly from dirt. For this I just used a sponge and warm water. You shouldn’t rub too much on the shoes so as not to damage the sensitive fabric. Then let the shoes dry well.
-
Stick the sole (and all other parts that should not be colored) with Washitape as a precaution.
-
Then systematically works with a soft brush from one side to the other. Do not take a break until you have colored a complete area and work wet in wet in stripes. So there are no edges or transitions. Slowly leads the brush over the fabric and works with enough color because the fabric sucks it up a little.
-
Let the shoe dry for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.

Impregnates the bridal shoes with an impregnation spray.
