This post contains advertising Do you have an older IVAR cupboard from IKEA in your home that you have been wanting to give a new look for a while? Then I have a brilliant solution, because I will now show you how you can transform your IVAR cupboard into a completely new piece of furniture with the Decosa quarter-arch wall strips and a bit of paint!

This summer I was in the mood for some change in my apartment and therefore, in collaboration with Decosa and dekiso.de* completely redesigned my IVAR cupboard. I had known the cupboard for a while and thought that it would be possible to make a great upcycling project out of it!

My fingers were literally tingling. This time I decided on the Decosa quarter-arch wall strips Melissa. With a few other materials I gave the IVAR cupboard a completely new look. If you also feel like sprucing up a cupboard, then pay close attention. Because now I’m going to explain to you how you can easily redesign an IVAR cupboard with Decosa products. By the way, I couldn’t quite decide on the color. After I had painted the cupboard a dark forest green, I changed my mind and went with a sage tone. Which version do you like better?

The materials are not only ideal for the IVAR wardrobe, you can use them for many different DIY projects. I have already built a hanging shelf with the wooden-look beams and a rustic wall coat rack with the wooden-look boards and pimped up a MALM chest of drawers with Viennese wickerwork and decorative strips.

Instructions

1

Arrange the quarter arches on the IVAR cabinet. For each cabinet door, 8 quarter arches are arranged to form two full arches.

2

Once you are happy with the position, you can glue the quarter-round arches onto your cabinet using mounting adhesive.

3

When the glue has dried well, it’s time to paint. I applied two coats of paint to the cupboard. Use the paint roller for the surfaces. For details, such as the arches, you can first paint the edges with a brush and then continue with the paint roller.

4

To attach the furniture handles, you can stretch a piece of masking tape on the back of the handles. Then transfer the holes onto the tape. Now peel off the tape and position it on the cabinet.

5

You can now pre-drill a hole at the marked points and then attach the handle to the pre-drilled holes. Repeat this with the second handle.

6

Finally, the cupboard just needs to be turned over so that the furniture feet can be attached. The newly designed IVAR cupboard is ready!

7

Attention: Due to the attached furniture feet, the cabinet should definitely be attached to the wall so that it does not tip over when opened due to the heavy doors.

Quarter-arch wall moldings Melissa are versatile!

For creative DIYs in interior design, dekiso.de* has a variety of products made from high-quality materials such as Styrofoam or high-density polystyrene. The decorative quarter sheets are suitable for all interiors. They have an extremely hard surface, are impact and shock resistant and are suitable for stylish accents on walls and, as in my DIY, also for designing furniture.

The wall strips can be easily painted over with solvent-free emulsion paint and give every piece of furniture a completely new look. They are perfect for redesigning furniture and you can also use them to create wall panels and frames as decorative elements for other wall designs. There are no limits to your creativity when using these strips.

The Decosa brand offers various decorative products made of Styrofoam, polystyrene and polyurethane and is available at dekiso.de and of course in well-stocked hardware and DIY stores. You will find a huge selection of wall moldings, wall and ceiling decorations, natural cork, rosettes, wooden boards, wall decorations and wall paneling. And anyone looking for something for interior insulation will also find what they are looking for. The Decosa quarter-curve wall molding Melissa is white (25 mm thick), available in a set (4 pieces) measuring 14 x 14 cm and costs 9.50 euros.
