1

Be the first to find suitable stones. It’s best to choose smooth stones that are not too tiny. This gives you a spacious, flat surface to accommodate your artistic ambitions.

2

Next you need an idea for your motif. The best way to do this is to look on Pinterest or Google. Simply enter “painting stones for Christmas” or similar search terms. Sometimes the shape of the stone already provides an inspiring direction. Is it naturally Christmas tree-shaped, does it resemble an animal or does it resemble a snowman? Choose a motif that fits the shape of your stone perfectly.

3

After you are satisfied with your little work of art, consider whether a second layer of paint is necessary so that the colors really shine later. If everything fits, let the paint dry thoroughly. On the back of the stone you can hide a small message, such as “Stay healthy”, “Take me with you” or “Merry Christmas”.

4

So that your efforts don’t disappear in the rain or water, we recommend using a clear varnish as a protective coating. This is available either as a spray version or as a liquid version that is applied with a brush.

5

Now you are ready to go and release your painted stones into the world. Spread a little joy and share your little works of art with other people!

Tips for painting stones

1. Use stones that are as smooth as possible and have a large surface area. This will help you paint the color and motifs onto your stones better.

2. Use high-quality markers, otherwise you will have to apply several layers, especially with light colors, which could cause the motifs to crack.

3. Fix your stones with a spray so that they are also protected against water.
