Chicken Sajta Recipe

Yield: 6 servings

Preparation time: 1 hour 30 minutes


  • 1 chicken, cut into pieces
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 yellow chili peppers, without veins or seeds, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of peas
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • Vegetable oil
  • Cumin, pepper, salt to taste

Simple preparation of Chicken Sajta

  1. In a pot, heat oil and brown the chicken pieces. Remove and reserve. In the same pot, sauté the onion, chili, and garlic until golden.
  2. Cook the tomatoes until they are completely broken down and a thick sauce forms, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken again with the potatoes, cumin, pepper and salt to taste. Keep the heat on medium throughout cooking to ensure the potatoes and chicken cook evenly. Cook over medium heat until the potatoes are tender.
  4. Add the evaporated milk and peas. Cook 5 more minutes. Serve hot.
