This post contains advertising for GLÜCKWould you like to make a summery decoration with GLÜCK glasses? Then make this shell candle with colored jam jars! In this blog post I will show you how to do it.

Are you also dreaming of holidays, sun and sea in August? Then you are like me. It pulls me out, preferably to the sea, where I can listen to the sound of the sea and feel the warm sand between my toes. But sometimes we may not have the money or time to go on vacation. Then we should bring at least a bit of wanderlust home with us.

And who could be a better fit for this than my long-standing cooperation partner GLÜCK! GLÜCK jams are available in a large selection of different types of fruit. In addition, the design is so beautiful that the GLÜCK jam jars are very suitable for handicrafts. I am therefore happy to be able to show you a very simple decoration with the GLÜCK glasses today.

Wanderlust decoration with GLÜCK glasses

Lisa from meinfeenstaub.com and I have the theme “Wanderlust” as the eighth topic for our #DIYYearChallenge included this year. As in the previous year, we are supported with the topic in August GLÜCK with their delicious fruit spreads*. For all those who still have a few question marks and are thinking “What aChallenge?” – no problem. I have summarized the most important points of the challenge for you here:

#DIYYearChallenge 2023

Lisa and I face a creative challenge once a month for a year – the #DIYYEARChallenge. On a given topic and with the support of a sponsor, we independently implement a DIY. We get creative with the sponsor’s materials and publish our results on our blogs and social media channels. Our followers can win great prizes from the sponsor by voting for their favorite under the Instagram post.

Monthly topic August: wanderlust

We were very happy that we were able to get GLÜCK enthusiastic about our challenge again this year. With the many different and delicious fruit spreads and the particularly decorative GLÜCK glasses, they are a perfect match for the challenge. I chose a lantern with dried flowers, shells and sand. You can use the sand-filled and summery decorated GLÜCK glasses at home as table decorations or at the next garden party. Be sure to check out how Lisa interpreted the topic.

It’s so easy to transform the GLÜCK jam jars into a shell candle:

Instructions

1

For your shell candle, remove the lid from the LUCKY glass and eat up the jam.

2

Then wash the glass well and rub dry. Optionally, you can carefully scratch the writing off the glass with a knife. The GLÜCK lettering should of course be retained.

3

Pour about two teaspoons of craft glue into an empty GLÜCK glass.

4

Add a few drops of food coloring of your choice. The more drops, the more intense the color of the glass.

5

Use a wooden skewer to evenly mix the color in the craft glue.

6

Tip: If the craft glue with the paint is too thick, you can add some water. But use it sparingly!

7

Now the color is swirled around in the glass until it has colored the entire inside.

8

Now place the glass upside down on a surface so that the excess paint can run out.

9

In the preheated oven, the color is now burned into the glass at 140 degrees for about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can also let the glue dry in the jar for two days.

10

After 30 minutes turn off the oven and let the glass cool down. It should now have a transparent colored look.

11

In the last step, fill some bird sand into the glass, put a candle in the sand and decorate the glass with shells and dried flowers.

12

Tip: If the candle is to be lit, then either only briefly or alternatively use an LED candle.

13

The colored shell candle is ready.
