You probably know this feeling too: When we want to give a special gift to people we care about, our imagination and creativity are called for. Because a special gift should be individually and lovingly designed. Whether for a birthday, an anniversary or a wedding – a cash gift is always a good idea, but it should not be given away in a boring envelope. That is why I have worked with Cricut* a DIY with which you can surprise and delight the wedding couple, for example. In this article I will explain to you step by step how you can recreate money butterflies in a glass bell jar.

So that you have a nice idea for the next celebration, Lisa from meinfeenstaub.com and I have come up with the theme “Let’s celebrate!” for the #DIYYearChallenge in June. This will ensure that you are perfectly prepared for the next wedding, anniversary or birthday of a loved one. For the month of June, we were able to get our loyal partner Cricut to help with the theme. Cricut supported us with its intelligent cutting machine, the Cricut Joy and its diverse materials. For anyone who still has a few questions: What kind of challenge? I’ll explain it again here.

#DIYYearChallenge 2024

Lisa and I are taking on a creative challenge once a month for a year – the #DIYYEARChallenge. On a given topic and with the support of a sponsor, we independently create a DIY project. We get creative with the sponsor’s materials and publish our results on our blogs and social media channels. Our followers can win great prizes from the sponsor by voting for their favorite under the Instagram post.

Monthly theme for June: Let’s celebrate!

I always find it particularly nice to get creative and give something I’ve made myself as a gift. And now the wedding season is in full swing, which is why there are many opportunities to prepare a special gift. My gift idea is suitable for anyone who wants to give money as a gift but is looking for an unusual idea. Thanks to the Cricut Joy, my butterflies under the glass dome have been given an individual motif print, so you can easily personalize the gift. Now I’ll explain to you step by step how it works. Be sure to take a look at how Lisa interpreted the theme.

Get creative with the Cricut Joy and implement DIY ideas

The Cricut Joy is a small, handy smart cutting machine that can cut more than 50 different materials – for example, vinyl stickers for glasses, drinking bottles or walls, labels for the kitchen and office, personalized cards or banners for different occasions. It also cuts cardboard, colored cardstock, paper, iron-on film and many other materials. You can also get creative with a variety of pen types and line widths. The universal Cricut Joy is also compatible with Cricut Smart Materials. With these you can work without a cutting mat and even cut out very long motifs.

The Bluetooth function makes it possible to connect the Cricut Joy very quickly to a smartphone or tablet. You can then use the Cricut Joy app or the Design Space to create your DIY projects. The Cricut Joy even works offline. If you download images, fonts or layouts, you can implement your DIY ideas even without an internet connection.
