Flour gorditas recipe
Yield: 10 chubby
Preparation time: 45 minutes
- 2 cups of corn flour
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Ingredients for the filling of your choice (for example, pressed pork rinds, cheese, picadillo, refried beans, etc.)
- Vegetable oil for frying
How to make flour gorditas from scratch
- In a large bowl, mix the corn flour, salt and butter and mix well. Little by little, add the warm water, kneading until you obtain a soft and manageable dough.
- Divide the dough into small portions to form golf balls. Take one and place it between two sheets of plastic or waxed paper.
- Using your hands or a rolling pin, flatten the dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick and shaped like a disk. Repeat with all the dough balls.
- Place the filling in the center of each dough disk. Fold it in half, covering the filling, and press the edges to seal well.
- Heat enough oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Place the gorditas and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Once they are golden, remove them from the oil and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.
